Iran Reports Strike on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Military Operations.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed strikes across the region in retaliation for a significant and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any destruction is not yet known and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on locations associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the government.
Additional Developments
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.
It said missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
