Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
Lando Norris has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from Piastri by one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, beat the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before sprint qualifying scheduled for the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points behind Norris, ended up in 17th place as his Red Bull team ran a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to go off, if briefly, when he spun at corner four soon after starting.
The Japanese lost control over the track edges before spinning across the gravel trap, and was blessed to escape with just a minor contact of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the conclusion of the session, rotating twice through the fast downhill corner leading to the final bend on to the main straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th place, trailing teammate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with the German's car in third, over half a second off the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
