Slot Insists He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's natural for concerns to be asked about his position after a further convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th defeat in twelve matches, representing the team's worst run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received significant support from the top,” Slot stated.

“It's important to turn it around and earn three points of course but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I accept my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “Through standard conversations we have I perceive the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Problems and Player Response

The manager lamented familiar failings from his team in their European defeat, specifically poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I play for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a period such as this with outcomes so bad.”

Jones stated, “But we still have the crest on our chest. And as long as that badge is removed, we’re always going to battle.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to the top, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and the reason it's called the top club in the world.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it needs to change.”
