This Swine Life: Pig Named Six Seven Granted Clemency by Miami-Dade Leader.

Although not quite at the equivalent scale as pardoning festive fowl, but the Miami-Dade County mayor experienced a presidential-style act this week by ritually sparing the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. She deserves this act of mercy. She has committed zero crimes,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with obvious nods to the vast quantity of executive clemencies issued since the beginning of a new presidential term.

“If we disregard eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” she went on. “May this pig enjoy a lengthy and joyful existence without fear.”

The gathering, either celebrating or rejecting the area's customary feast of feasting on pork during the holidays, was created to mirror the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The animal, provided by a local firefighter, was given its name from the modern linguistic fad of young people shouting “six-seven” – inspired by a musical verse – often seemingly at random. The phrase became so widespread that a prominent word reference recently made “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.

A Future Secured

The pardoned swine is now set to enjoy its days at a rural sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to kick off the holiday season,” said the event host, in a notably cheerful message.

“It represents the essence of Miami: vibrant, multicultural, and based in heritage that unite the community. Every time, we are delighted to mark heritage and mercy in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Guests enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach fritters and cafecito as they marked the pig's pardon.
